There are only a few pieces of equipment that you’ll need for the P90x home fitness program. Among them are dumbbells or resistance bands, and a pull-up bar. Other than that, there are a few optional pieces of equipment that you can get, but you don’t absolutely have to have them.

You must have either dumbbells or resistance bands. Dumbbells are the popular choice for people who want to bulk up, but the reality is that either one will do the job if you have the right weight/resistance levels for you. Resistance bands are the cheaper option, and unlike dumbbells, are not susceptible to gravity. They offer continuous resistance during the exercise.

If cost is an issue, the biggest money requirement will be if you choose to use dumbbells. They can be quite expensive, especially if you go out and buy each set individually. This is where adjustable dumbbells such as Powerblocks or Bowflex SelectTech really shine. You get the advantage of having all the weights you’ll need for a fraction of the cost. In essence, adjustable weights replace a stack of dumbbells.

P90x doesn’t have to cost a lot to do. You don’t have to buy dumbbells worth hundreds of dollars to get results. If you don’t want to spend a whole lot, resistance bands are much cheaper than free weights, and have the added benefit of being much more portable. Beachbody sells bands in packs of three. All you need are at least 3 bands with different tensions and you will be set to go. Just make sure to pick bands that provide enough resistance for you to get a great workout.

In the end, all that matters is that you get something that will provide resistance, whether it is from dumbbells or resistance bands doesn’t matter, they both will get the job done. There are pros and cons to each, but in the end, they both will help you get ripped and lean.

B-Lines Resistance Bands will help you get ripped with your home exercise program.

As you know, there are many different benefits and potential downsides to working out at either a gym, your home, or even outside (running, jogging, walking, etc.). This article lists and discusses the benefits to working out at home.

Want to be able to pick the time when you workout? Working out at home gives you more time options. Because many of us are in our homes before and after work, it is easy to squeeze in a workout when it fits into your schedule. You can make your own workout schedule and workout before or after work, or whenever it fits into your life.

How about money? If you want to save money, exercising in your home is a great way to save the money you would spend on gas, and on a membership fee at a gym.

I know that when I exercise, I have a habit of making this weird, unpleasant face when I am lifting heavy weights. In fear that I will look like I have a bad case of constipation, I exercise at home. I enjoy the privacy and being able to focus more on the exercise I am doing rather than how I look while I am doing it.

Not many would rather spend their time driving in their car over doing something they enjoy. Who can blame them? Why add more time to your daily driving when you could cut out the added minutes of commuting to a gym?

As listed, you can see there are several pros to working out in your own home. The first pro is that you have complete control over when you can exercise. The second pro is that you save cash because you don’t have to pay for gas to drive to a gym, or pay for a monthly membership so you can have access to a gym. The third pro is that you have complete privacy. No one watching you, judging you or worse, laughing at you. Fourth and final, you save time because you don’t have to drive to a gym.

If you want to workout at home, P90x is for you. Read the “How Does P90x Work?” page for more information, or read P90x horror stories.
