They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

Spin Bikes Are A Popular Method Of Work-Outs

Uncategorized  Comments Off on Spin Bikes Are A Popular Method Of Work-Outs

You will see spin bikes in most gyms these days. They have become so popular that numerous people even have one at home, especially one of the various Schwinn spin bikes. There are many health benefits associated with this form of exercise. Spin bikes are completely different to conventional exercise bikes. In fact, the only similarity is that they are stationery.

To mimic the feeling of pedaling on a genuine bicycle, a spin bike’s flywheel is weighted. When tightening the resistance control, it feels exactly like riding up a steep incline. Spin bikes are constructed of strong steel to enable the rider to stand up while pedaling.

‘Spinning’ is the word used for this genre of exercise and one of the major benefits is that it provides an effective cardiovascular exercise regimen. It forces the large muscle groups to do repeated movements over a long period. In addition, cardio exercise strengthens the skeletal structure, thereby reducing or preventing the risk of osteoporosis developing.

Regular spinning is a great way to lose weight because it burns calories at a fast rate. This is facilitated by an increase in the body’s rate of metabolism. For best weight loss results on a spin bike, you should ride for about 45 minutes at a medium pace. At sporadic intervals, increase and reduce the speed.

Apart from becoming slimmer, you can also improve muscle endurance. Muscles that can benefit are the hamstrings, abs, glutes, quads, and calves. Regular spin bike workouts will tone and strengthen all these muscles. For best results, stand up while pedaling and alter the intensity between medium and high.

A word of caution if you suffer with joint problems: Do not put too much force on your legs as this may aggravate the condition. This is not to say that spinning is unsafe for you. It can be a beneficial low-impact exercise for the joints as long as you remain in the seated position.

Posture problems can also be improved. Muscle imbalance and slouching are often the result of poor posture. While spinning, the shoulder, trunk, and hip muscles are required to work which helps posture and balance.

Spinning is fun, especially if you join a group led by an instructor. Usually, classes consist of 15-20 riders on spin bikes. During the sessions, fast music is played to give the riders additional motivation. Another advantage of classes is that the instructor will show you how to use the bike for maximum benefits.
